A Healthier Way To Eat

Want to try and stay away from processed foods, but not sure exactly what foods are best to eat?  According to an article on Prevention’s website, it isn’t a simple thing to do.

Taking certain foods, they have categorized them in order of which food should be your 1st choice (foods in their most natural state), 2nd choice (foods that are somewhat processed), and the foods you should limit (foods that are highly processed).

Here are some examples:

Apples:

1st Choice: Apple

 2nd Choice: Applesauce

3rd Choice: Apple Toaster Pastry

Strawberries:

1st Choice: Fresh Strawberries

2nd Choice: Strawberry Preserves

3rd Choice: Strawberry Gelatin Dessert (contains strawberry flavor, not real fruit)

Corn:

1st Choice: Corn on the Cob

2nd Choice: Corn Tortilla Chips (the ones containing whole corn, oil, and salt only)

3rd Choice: Cornflakes

Garlic:

1st Choice: Fresh Garlic

2nd Choice:Jarred Minced Garlic

3rd Choice: Bottled Garlic Marinade

I’m sure you get the idea by now; eat as many foods that are in their most natural state as much as possible.  I’m going to try it.
