SURVIVAL 1.5

Should you need to vacate your home for any reason it is advisable to plan a ” Bug out bag “. This is important because it will consolidate supplies you will need in an emergency without having to wait for the emergency to happen to pack. Each member of the family should pack items that are specific to their needs such as any type of medications ( keep your medication in it’s original container in case you are stopped by authorities. This will greatly reduce a potential misunderstanding that can result in false arrest or worse. You should consider what else you might need for short term survival such as energy bars, water, first aid supplies. I recommend each member of the group carry an ample supply of any first aid material ( you never have enough ). I would also recommend you all have flashlight that can use the same size of batteries. You can obtain a flashlight that you can crank a knob and get short term power without any batteries needed ( GET ONE ).

Always carry food that won’t spoil rapidly to carry with you. One of the best foods is jerky. You can make it yourself and to your own tastes and it does not require that you be a rocket scientist. If you decide to make jerky you should vacuum seal it so it will last longer. You can use other types of food items like freeze dried meals or MRE’s ( meals ready to eat ) and all are light weight and easy to pack.

It is extremely advisable to obtain a hikers water filtration system. They are small and can save you all sorts of medical problems when the only water to drink looks undrinkable. There are scores of various types of filtration kits you can buy and you should take the time to get educated regarding which one you want. Each member of the group should carry one of their own.

I also highly recommend you look into purchasing a high quality multi-tool. You know the kind with the pliers, spoon, screw driver, saw, fork etc. The better the quality of the tool the happier you will be when you need a good tool in times of need. I recommend you get a back up tool also. Again each member of the group should carry one.

Your survival will greatly depend on how well you prepare. The better you prepare, the greater your chances of survival. Learn first aid and other life saving techniques and have your family learn these skills also. You just never know until it’s usually to late so lower the odds of any disaster getting the better of you. Be safe be free.
