We watched Julie/Julia last night and I was pleasantly surprised, I loved it. I was thinking that the going back and forth from Julia Childs’ life back to Julies’ life but it was not. The transitions were nicely done and made great sense. There was one scene in particular all I could think about was why is she putting her self through it. Julie mentioned she had to go to the dreaded Cobb Salad lunch. She meets three friends for lunch and they all are highly successful, where she unfortunately is not. And her “friends” pretty much make a point to insinuate how pitiful her job is. She has never completed anything so her doing a blog of her cooking is one thing she needs to finish.
I did not know much about Julia Child before this movie. I had no idea that she started cooking late in life and became famous later in life. This movie gives me more respect for her and in a way gives me hope. I am not successful yet and with her gaining that at an older age, means I do still have a chance.
This show is a feel good movie, even when you think you are not successful there is still hope you can be your dreams can come true. This movie was not all mush it was quite funny as well. It also makes you think would that not be fun to take a cookbook of somebody that you like and do that exact same thing. Not only would you learn a great deal about cooking, but think about all the different food you would get to taste and try.
The funniest part of the movie to me was Julia in her kitchen and her husband was sitting at the table writing a letter. She was cooking dinner and she was boiling pasta, she reached over grabbed the pasta out of the pan and said “this is as hot as a stiff cock” I could do was laugh. You learn something new everyday. I do recommend this movie it was funny and yet you learn a life lesson.
