My Review Of The Top 3 Cell Phone Companies

Being a seasoned veteran of the top 3 cell phone companies, I thought I would share my thoughts on them.  All three have pretty much the same features and similar price ranges.  The thing that sets the three apart, in my eyes, is customer service.  I’ll start with my least favorite, and go on up from there…

  • Sprint – I had Sprint for about five years, and never once had a problem…or so I thought.  It seems like there were way better deals compared to what I had negotiated originally.  Am I the only one that thinks that if you’re giving all of these deals to new customers, that you should automatically offer them to your loyal customers as well?  Anyways, things were fine with Sprint.  After all, they had the best cell service area in the town that I was living in.  Then I got married, and needed to add two more phones to my account.  Things went downhill from there.  For the next year or so, we were constantly overcharged, then when we would call to have them fix it, we would be told that it was fixed only to have the same problem the next time we got a bill.  And every time that you call to have something changed or fixed on your bill, your contract automatically gets renewed for another year or two.  The straw that broke the camel’s back was after 3-4 months of constant haggeling, and no relief, then getting a bill in the mail for over a thousand bucks.  I told my wife that were done with Sprint, and went looking elsewhere.
  • AT&T – We ended up switching over to AT&T, mostly because the lady in the store was very helpful, and went the extra mile to make sure that we were happy.  Any time we had a problem, whether it was minutes or being overcharged, we would just go into the store and speak to the same lady and she would take care of the problem.  Then AT&T decided that they weren’t going to let their store employees call on behalf of the customer anymore, so we were left to fend for ourselves.  A few months later, and an unresolved problem on our bill where we kept getting charged for things that we didn’t use, we decided to severe ties with AT&T.  My only regret is not being able to get an iPhone, as I think they are cool.
  • Verizon – So far, the clear winner as far as customer service goes, has been Verizon.  Granted, there have been some issues on our bill, but they are quickly taken care of with a simple phone call.  And the next bill doesn’t show up all jacked up like with AT&T.  We even recently had to upgrade our minutes due to my wife using her phone for her business, and they made the changes take effect for not only the last month that our bill was for, but also for the month or two before that.  There’s no way that AT&T or Sprint would have done that for us.  And, oh yeah, they didn’t make us renew our contract for all of these changes to take effect, either.

In my experience, Verizon comes out clearly on top when it comes to the top 3 cell phone providers.  I guess their commercials with that guy being followed by all of his “network” holds true, as they have given my family the best in support and customer service than the other two ever did.  Most cell phone providers offer similar features and are priced around the same, but the main difference is customer service, and in my experience, Verizon has been the top dog.
