Devastation in Haiti

With the devastation in Haiti it makes me think how lucky we are to have what we have. I know very little of the country. But the reports coming from there are that if you had running water prior to the earthquake you were one of the lucky few. What does this mean for them now? Reports are that people have just left their houses gone to the parks and are hanging out due to the devastation. The children are acting like everything is fine, we get to spend the day playing. Everyone is just so laid back, I think that part of it is wonderful to be that relaxed but their infrastruction is so fragile. Katrina devastated New Orleans we are still mopping up because of that and it has been 4 years. Think about Haiti Port Au Prince many areas are flattened, destroyed how are they going to rebuild? How many years will it take them to get the rubble moved out and to get buildings rebuilt homes replaced. Back to some kind of normalcy.

Haiti’s capital saw increasing desperation Thursday, a day and a half after a devastating earthquake, with covered bodies piling up along streets and modern aspects of life, such as electricity, mostly missing. Looking at this devastation I would guess Haiti is looking at a long process before they get things up and running there. Their airport is in good shape they now have ground control handling planes in and out, making it work and allowing supplies and people that are there to help come and go. They need to get roads cleared so that they are able to get the supplies that have been delivered to the people that so desperately need them.
