I’ve been overweight off and on since the 4th grade. The amount of weight has varied throughout the years, but the result is the same. Right now, I’m about fifty pounds over what I would consider my ideal weight of around 200 pounds. There could be many different reasons for this, from chemical/hormone imbalance to not exercising enough, but here are some ways that you can succeed in your own weight battle.
- Drink more water. Water flushes the toxins out of your body. Most people don’t drink enough of it, and will turn to soda instead. But do you know that you need to drink eight 12oz glasses of water to get your body back in balance after drinking just one 12oz soda? That’s how bad soda is for you. It will really help you lose weight just by ditching the soda and drinking more water.
- Don’t overeat. I don’t feel like I overeat. My doctor tells me otherwise. He says most adults overeat and should only be eating twice a day. Anything more is just waste that adds pounds onto your body.
- Eat more fruits and vegetables. Vegetables literally taste like dirt to me, so this one is very tough for me to do. Fruits are a little better, but I’m not much of a snack person meaning that I usually only eat during regular meal times. I definitely have to work on getting more fruits and vegetables into my diet, and so should you. Most people don’t eat enough of them.
- Exercise more. I’m guilty. I don’t exercise enough. But it’s tough to get motivated to exercise after sitting for twelve hours at work. I’ve been getting better, though. We have a portable basketball hoop at home, and I try to go out there a couple of times a week and shoot around. Any type of exercise is good, you just need to do it. The human body was designed to walk 2 miles a day, and most of us don’t come near that. So get out there and move around! LOL
We all need a little help when dealing with a weight battle. We also need to know that we’re not alone. If you follow these tips, along with the guidance of a licensed health practitioner, you should start to see results.
